Our suspension lights come in our basic design, which we can supply in a number of different colours, or in a variety of contemporary finishes including chrome, nickel, satin nickel metallic and, of course, classic plain white. We have harnessed the benefits of LED lighting technology to allow us to make suspension light fittings in a wider range of styles and designs. And because you don’t need to replace your lamps very often, it makes these long, stylish light fittings more practical than ever.
We manufacture suspension lights in a wide variety of different heights, so you can make this style work in a room of just about any size. But if you have rooms that are higher than they are wide, suspension lights will bring the main focus of any light down to a low level, where you can make the greatest use of it.
We have been hand-crafting our suspension light fittings in our factory in Leith, just east of Edinburgh, for more than 40 years, and the Dorval Lighting business is now in the hands of the third generation of our founding family.
We sell to both the public and trade, and send our lampshades out to all corners of the British Isles using fast and reliable courier services.
A suspension light produces lots of illumination, but has just a small footprint. In many older rooms with high ceilings but a small floor space, they draw your eye towards the vertical dimensions and can evenly light all the available floor space.
You can also direct the illumination from a suspension light very precisely, and choose whether you want it to be concentrated in a tightly-defined area, or flood out to shine over a much larger space.
With just the light shades and the lamps themselves visible, you can create some stunning effects. Suspension lights work perfectly in a room where you want people to focus their attention on the decor and fittings. Suspension lights mean there’s as little as possible to detract from the look you’re trying to create.
With the right decor, you can almost make it look as though there is nothing holding up your suspension lights, with the wiring which suspends them very subtle. Suspension lighting works best when you can carry off this optical illusion!
