If you are doing some redecorating, it is likely that you will be looking to replace your lampshades. Lampshades are an often overlooked aspect of a room, and can be an easy way to inject a refreshing breath of fresh air into your home.
If you are looking to replace your lamp shades, you will want to consider how big (or small) you want your new lampshades to be. To determine exactly how to measure your lampshades, simply do the following
1 – Measure across the diameter of the top of your lampshade
2 – Measure the bottom of the shade
3 – Measure the side of the shade
But, you might be wondering how exactly to determine the height of your lampshade. The height should be the height of the base multiplied by 60%-70%. It is also important to consider that the diameter should never exceed the height of your base.
Also remember that, typically, a lamp shade is defined by its diameter – therefore if you are buying a 14” shade, it has a 14” diameter.
